In a transformative stride towards community development and urban renewal, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has launched the Light Up Ojokoro Project – a visionary initiative designed to illuminate major streets and enhance the night-time environment across the LCDA.
The project, which has already commenced in key areas including Asuku Street, Ijaiye and Anifowose Street, is part of the administration’s broader commitment to improving infrastructure, promoting security, and beautifying Ojokoro’s landscape.
According to the Executive Chairman, the Light Up Ojokoro Project aims to make communities safer, more secure, and more serene after dark. By improving visibility at night, the streetlights are expected to deter criminal activities, reduce road accidents, and encourage night-time economic activities within the LCDA.
Hon. Yemisi Rosiji emphasized that lighting up the streets is not just about aesthetics, but about safety, comfort, and growth. “When our streets are well-lit, our residents feel safer to move freely at night, businesses can operate for longer hours, and the entire community benefits from the renewed sense of security,” she said.
Beyond security, the project also contributes to urban beautification, giving the community a modern and welcoming appearance.
The initiative has received commendations from residents who expressed delight over the new look of their neighborhoods at night, describing it as “a step in the right direction for community development.”
