In another bold stride toward youth empowerment and digital inclusion, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has flagged off a six-month ICT training programme aimed at equipping young people across the council area with essential digital skills for personal and professional advancement.

The training, which covers Microsoft Office Suite, Corel Suite, Networking, and other vital ICT applications, is designed to give participants practical, hands-on experience that will enable them to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Council’s ICT Centre Jankara, Hon. Rosiji reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to implementing sustainable initiatives that improve the wellbeing of residents, especially the youth.

She recalled that during previous educational programmes, she had hinted at a series of upcoming empowerment schemes, noting that this training is just the beginning.

“This training is just a tip of the iceberg,” she said. “Our goal is to continuously roll out programmes that uplift our children and citizens. To empower people is far better than to give them more. When you are empowered with a skill, you can make a living from it and also empower others.”

The Council Chairman urged participants to take full advantage of the training, emphasizing that the era of waiting for white-collar jobs is fading fast. She encouraged them to embrace the digital space as a fertile ground for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Earlier, the Council Manager, Mrs. Mojisola Akinola, advised beneficiaries to take the training seriously and use it as a stepping stone to advance their careers and improve their livelihoods.

Also speaking, Mr. Ogunkenu Abayomi, Head of the ICT Unit, commended the Council Boss for her unwavering support for the ICT Unit, noting that her administration’s investment has revived and repositioned the Council’s ICT Centres for effective service delivery.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Salako Toluwanimi expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Council Chairman for the thoughtful initiative. She described the training as “a rare opportunity” and assured that participants would make good use of the knowledge gained to make the Chairman and the Council proud.

Training materials were also distributed to participants to aid learning and enhance practical sessions.

The flag-off ceremony attracted the Legislative arm of the Council led by Hon. Usman Ipaye other  Council officials, community leaders, and enthusiastic participants, all of whom lauded the initiative as timely, impactful, and visionary.
