The Community Development Council (CDC), Ojokoro, has celebrated the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, on her first anniversary in office, commending her administration for its remarkable achievements and sustained partnership with community stakeholders.
The celebration, held on Tuesday, August 12, 2026, at the CDC Hall, Temple Road, also provided an opportunity for the community leadership to appraise some of the administration’s landmark projects across the LCDA and seek clarification on issues affecting residents.
Speaking at the event, the CDC Chairman, Barr. Sunday Alabi, commended Chairman Rosiji for her visible impact across Ojokoro and for giving the CDC due recognition and support since assuming office.
Alabi noted that the administration’s engagement with community stakeholders had strengthened the relationship between the Council and the people, stressing that the CDC’s decision to celebrate the Chairman was borne out of appreciation for her accomplishments and partnership with the communities.
However, the CDC Chairman raised concerns over the ongoing enforcement against indiscriminate refuse dumping, particularly in view of challenges surrounding the availability of designated dumping sites for Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators.
He appealed to the Council to temper enforcement until the issue of a suitable PSP dumping facility was fully resolved by the appropriate authorities.
Alabi also sought clarification on notices reportedly issued to some residents of Temple Road concerning the reclamation of setbacks and the removal of structures encroaching on the road’s right-of-way.
Responding to the concerns, Chairman Rosiji appreciated the CDC for the gesture and for creating an avenue to celebrate her administration while also engaging constructively on issues affecting residents.
On the waste disposal challenge, the Council Chairman explained that the issue of PSP dumping sites was not peculiar to Ojokoro LCDA, noting that the huge volume of waste generated across Lagos State had made proper waste management a collective responsibility.
She disclosed that the Lagos State Government had reached an agreement with the Ogun State Government regarding the provision of a dumping site around Sagamu to address the growing waste disposal challenge.
Hon. Rosiji Oluyemisi Adenike however, urged residents not to see the challenges surrounding dumping sites as a justification for indiscriminate waste disposal.
She encouraged residents to embrace proper waste management practices, particularly waste sorting and separation at source.
According to her, separating waste materials could significantly reduce the volume of refuse requiring final disposal, while some biodegradable food waste could be appropriately managed and used to enrich garden soil.
She emphasised that proper sorting and responsible waste management would create more space for efficient disposal and contribute to a cleaner and healthier Ojokoro.
On the Temple Road issue, Chairman Rosiji announced that the road was scheduled for construction, assuring residents that a stakeholders’ meeting would be convened to properly explain the project and address concerns before construction begins.
She clarified that the notice issued by the Works Department was intended to prepare property owners whose structures had encroached on the road’s right-of-way for the impending construction.
The Chairman observed that the entrance of Temple Road had become significantly narrowed by structures erected along the right-of-way, explaining that such encroachments would have to be addressed to allow the planned road project to proceed effectively.
She assured the CDC and residents that the Council would continue to engage stakeholders and pursue development projects in a manner that balances infrastructure development with the interests of the community.
The event climaxed with the cutting of the anniversary cake by Hon. Yemisi Rosiji alongside CDC executives and other dignitaries, followed by a group photograph with community leaders, well-wishers and other participants.
