The CDAC Chairman has hailed the grassroots commitment of the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, noting that her projects and achievements speak for themselves.
The commendation came on Thursday, August 13, 2026, as Ojokoro Local Council Development Area hosted the 2026 Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC) Annual Congress, where Hon Rosiji was honored with an Award of Excellence for her outstanding performance and commitment to grassroots development.
The congress, organised by the Ojokoro Community Development Committee (CDC), was held at the CDC Hall, Temple Road, Ojokoro, under the theme: “Nigeria at Crossroads: Innovative Solutions Towards Security Challenges in Our Communities.”
The award, presented to the Council Chairman by the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, recognised her contributions to community development and people-oriented governance in Ojokoro LCDA.
In her response, Hon. Rosiji Oluyemisi Adenike expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it not merely as an honour but as a call to greater service, renewed commitment and more impactful delivery to the people.
The Chairman dedicated the award to the entire people of Ojokoro LCDA, acknowledging that the achievements for which she was honoured were products of collective effort and the support, cooperation and partnership of residents, community leaders and stakeholders.
She said her administration’s development philosophy was anchored on listening to the people, identifying their needs and working collaboratively with communities to provide sustainable solutions.
Speaking during the congress, the Chairman reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between government and community organisations, noting that sustainable grassroots development could not be achieved by government alone.
According to her, the Community Development Committees and Associations remain a critical bridge between government and the grassroots because of their proximity to the people and understanding of the peculiar needs of their communities.
She noted that Ojokoro LCDA had continued to invest in roads, drainage infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, education, environmental management, social interventions and other programmes aimed at improving the quality of life of residents.
Hon. Yemisi Rosiji also urged delegates to use the congress to develop practical and innovative solutions to the security challenges confronting communities, stressing the need for collaboration among government, traditional institutions, CDAs, youth organisations, religious bodies and residents.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, Alhaji Azeez Amusat, gave a strong commendation of Hon. Rosiji’s commitment to community development.
Alhaji Hazmat revealed that Rosiji had served as an Auditor of the CDC before her election as Council Chairman, adding that despite assuming political leadership of the LCDA, she had remained actively involved in the activities of the CDC.
He described her as an efficient and punctual participant at CDC meetings, stressing that her commitment to community development had not diminished since becoming Council Chairman.
According to him, the developmental projects executed under her administration also speak volumes about her performance.
The occasion also witnessed the recognition of the CDC Chairman, Barr. Samuel Alabi, who received an Award of Excellence for his outstanding leadership and service to the Ojokoro Community Development Committee.
In his remarks, Barr. Alabi expressed appreciation for the large turnout and commended Hon. Rosiji for what he described as her extraordinary performance across the LCDA.
He also questioned the credibility of a recent assessment that reportedly ranked the performance of the Council Chairman low, noting that the organisation behind the ranking did not visit Ojokoro LCDA to inspect the projects and activities on ground.
Barr. Alabi urged the public to exercise caution over unverified assessments, stressing that the projects and development initiatives of the Rosiji administration were visible across the LCDA.
He further commended the Chairman for her continued participation in CDC activities, describing her punctuality and commitment as remarkable, particularly as she continued to attend CDC meetings despite occupying the office of Executive Chairman.
The CDC Chairman also appreciated Hon. Rosiji for shouldering the cost of hosting the annual congress, describing the gesture as another demonstration of her support for community development.
He called on other CDCs to emulate the organisational structure and activities of Ojokoro CDC, which he described as highly coordinated, active in developmental matters and committed to the welfare of its members.
A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. James Owolabi, also commended the Council Chairman for what he described as the tremendous achievements and efficiency of her administration.
Hon. Owolabi prayed for the continued success of the administration, expressing confidence that having started well, the Chairman would finish her tenure strongly.
The congress attracted dignitaries and community development stakeholders from across Lagos State. Among those in attendance were representatives of Hon. Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo, Member of the House of Representatives; Apex Leader, Hon. Osatuyi; LGA Chairman, Hon. Jelili Oseni; principal officers of the council; party chieftains; community leaders; delegates of the LSCDAC and other notable personalities.
The event also featured a vibrant atmosphere of community celebration, with guests treated to a colourful reception marked by impressive decorations, entertainment, food and drinks following the congress.
The recognition of Hon. Rosiji and Barr. Alabi added a significant dimension to the gathering, underscoring the growing importance of responsive leadership, community participation and strong government-community partnerships in advancing grassroots development.
For Ojokoro LCDA, the congress was not only an avenue for deliberation on community security but also a celebration of leadership, service and the collective responsibility to build safer, stronger and more prosperous communities.
