The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has presented free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to indigent students and youths in the LCDA, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to removing financial barriers to education and investing in the future of young people.
The presentation, held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Ojokoro LCDA Secretariat, attracted beneficiaries, parents, council officials, community leaders and other stakeholders, with the beneficiaries expressing excitement and appreciation for the intervention.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Rosiji described the initiative as more than the distribution of examination forms, saying it was about creating opportunities, supporting dreams and ensuring that financial difficulties do not prevent determined young people from pursuing their educational aspirations.
She recalled that her administration had earlier provided free JAMB forms to eligible youths in the LCDA, stressing that the GCE intervention was another demonstration of her administration’s sustained commitment to education and human capital development.
According to her, the administration’s people-oriented agenda has also been demonstrated through its interventions in youth empowerment, ICT training, vocational skills development, healthcare and social support, among others.
“This is an opportunity, not merely a gift. Please make the most of it. Study diligently, prepare adequately and listen to your teachers and mentors,” the Chairman charged the beneficiaries.
She further urged the students to shun examination malpractice, drug abuse, violence, cultism and other activities capable of jeopardising their future.
In a significant addition to the initiative, Chairman Rosiji promised to reward beneficiaries who have their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing responsible participation in the democratic process as an important expression of patriotism and citizenship.
She encouraged the youths to understand that their civic responsibility is as important as their academic pursuits, urging them to become responsible citizens who will contribute positively to the development of Ojokoro, Lagos State and Nigeria.
The Chairman also charged the beneficiaries to succeed and return to their community in the future to provide similar opportunities for others.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Council Manager, Dr. Idowu Daisi Banjoko, commended Chairman Rosiji for her people-oriented and developmental initiatives, noting that her administration had consistently placed the welfare and aspirations of residents at the centre of governance.
Dr. Banjoko expressed pride in being part of the Ojokoro LCDA administration, describing the Chairman’s passion for development and the people as inspiring.
He charged the beneficiaries to study hard and come out in flying colours, assuring them that the Chairman still had “a lot in her coffers” for them.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Oladosu Semilore expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman for providing them with the opportunity to advance their education.
She described the intervention as a privilege they would not take for granted, promising on behalf of the beneficiaries that they would study diligently, excel in their examinations and make the Chairman proud.
She also prayed for the continued success of the Rosiji administration.
In his vote of thanks, the Supervisor for Education and Library Services, Hon. Busari, appreciated the Chairman for her consistent commitment to youth empowerment and educational development.
He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the Chairman’s gesture by taking their studies seriously and ensuring excellent performance in their examinations.
The event ended on a joyful note as the beneficiaries received their GCE forms, visibly elated by the opportunity to continue their educational journey without the financial burden of examination registration.
The intervention further reinforces the Rosiji administration’s philosophy that government is not only about building roads and infrastructure, but also about building people and creating opportunities for the next generation.
