The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has taken another bold step in advancing digital governance with the official launch of the e-Birth Registration Initiative across the LCDA. The flag-off ceremony was held on Wednesday, 13th November 2025, at ILO Primary Healthcare Centre, Ajegunle.
As part of the rollout, the Chairman supervised the distribution of digital registration devices to health officials across all six Primary Healthcare Centres in Ojokoro LCDA. This ensures that the electronic birth registration system becomes fully operational and accessible to parents of children aged 0–12 months.
In her remarks, Hon. Yemisi Rosiji explained that the initiative is a partnership between Ojokoro LCDA and the National Population Commission (NPC), with digital devices supplied by the Lagos State Government. Through this system, children born within Ojokoro LCDA can now be automatically captured in the national database from birth.
She emphasized the importance of the programme in ensuring that every child is properly documented.
During the event, the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. F. Iyanda, explained that the new system will strengthen accurate data collection and provide government with a reliable birth database for effective planning and improved welfare services. She noted that parents will be required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) along with the full names of the child, enabling each newborn to receive their own NIN upon registration.
Dr. Iyanda added that children above 12 months who are yet to be captured can still be registered at any National Population Commission (NPC) office.
The Chairman formally declared the programme open, dedicating the initiative to the glory of God and for the benefit of humanity. She was joined by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle, members of the Legislative Arm, and the LCDA’s Management Team.
