In a bold step to promote quality education and ease the financial burden on parents, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, flagged off the free distribution of customized exercise books to all public schools across the council area.

The flag-off ceremony, held at Ebenezer Primary School, was graced by pupils, teachers, parents, education stakeholders, and community leaders, who described the initiative as timely and impactful.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Yemisi Rosiji  explained that the gesture was designed to welcome pupils back to school and to encourage them to take their studies seriously, stressing that “education remains the surest key to success in life.” She added that the exercise books would not only serve as a relief for parents but also inspire excellence among pupils.

The council boss further commended teachers for their dedication to nurturing young minds, assuring them of her administration’s unwavering support. She reiterated that her administration is committed to rolling out more innovative programmes aimed at uplifting the standard of education in Ojokoro LCDA.

Also speaking at the event, the Education Secretary of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Mr. Olalekan Jongbo, commended Hon. Rosiji for the initiative, describing it as a big relief for parents. He however appealed to the council boss to extend similar goodwill to headteachers in the form of stipends for minor school maintenance. Mr. Jongbo also urged councillors to familiarize themselves with the pupils in their various wards by visiting schools regularly, noting that such gestures would serve as motivation to the children.

In her opening remarks, the Council Manager, Mrs. Akinola Mojisola, appreciated the Council Chairman for complementing the efforts of parents. She also counselled the pupils to be of good conduct and to take their studies seriously.

The highpoint of the event came when excited pupils took turns to shower praises and prayers on Hon. Rosiji, expressing their gratitude and joy for the council’s kind gesture.
