In a decisive step to safeguard the interests of local traders and reinforce the rule of law, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has personally enforced the Lagos State House of Assembly’s directive on the Abattoir Meat Market land dispute.
The action, which brought relief and clarity to the embattled trading community, followed the express order of Hon. Olotu Emmanuel, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, mandating the immediate removal of all “trespassing” signboards from the market.
Speaking to jubilant traders at the scene, Hon. (Barr.) Yemisi Rosiji assured that neither contractors nor the Lagos State Agricultural Land Holding Authority would be allowed to harass or forcefully evict market occupants. She further emphasized that no structures would be demolished, urging traders to continue their legitimate businesses without fear.
“The House of Assembly has spoken, and as your Executive Chairman, I will ensure that these directives are obeyed to the latter. No one will disrupt your livelihoods,” Hon. Rosiji declared.
Under her direct supervision, and in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer of Abattoir, SP Shade Akeem, and the Council Engineer, Mr. Ope G.O., the controversial signboards were immediately removed.
The Chairman also urged market leaders and shop owners to report any future cases of harassment or intimidation directly to her office, reiterating her administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting constituents through lawful and peaceful means.
As the signboards came down, traders broke into cheers and applause, hailing Hon. (Barr.) Rosiji for what they described as a bold and compassionate intervention that restored their confidence in leadership.
