…As Lagos APC Leadership Applauds Performance, Urges Continued Support for Development
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, has marked the first anniversary of her administration with a remarkable display of infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment and strengthened community security, commissioning 6 road projects, empowering about 1,000 youths with start-up support valued at ₦100 million, and providing operational vehicles to key security and enforcement structures within the Council Area.
The landmark activities, held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, brought together an impressive gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, party chieftains, security personnel, religious leaders, community development executives, councillors, members of the Executive Council, management and staff of the Council, as well as residents from across Ojokoro LCDA.
The anniversary programme was, in essence, a celebration defined not merely by speeches, but by projects delivered, lives impacted and institutions strengthened.
SIX ROADS COMMISSIONED
The day commenced with the commissioning of six newly constructed roads across different communities in Ojokoro LCDA.
The commissioned roads are:
* Olusegun Oladapo Street
* Oniyaomebi Street, Orile-Alagbado
* Yusuf Street
* Ibrahim Afuwape Street
* Ipetu-Ijesha Street
* Onipinla Street
Speaking at the various project sites, Chairman Rosiji described the roads as part of her administration’s deliberate effort to improve connectivity, facilitate movement, stimulate local commerce and raise the standard of living across the LCDA.
She stressed that infrastructure must serve as an enduring public asset and therefore appealed to residents to protect the roads and associated facilities.
She specifically urged residents to keep drainage channels free of refuse, desist from using the newly constructed roads as mechanic workshops or permanent parking spaces, and avoid activities capable of compromising the integrity of the infrastructure.
The road projects complement a broader intervention in drainage and flood management across Ojokoro LCDA, including drainage works at Oniyaomebi and Onipinla, the left-side drainage along Ipetu-Ijesha, the two-sided covered drainage at Abiok Street, among other water-collection and flood-control interventions undertaken in collaboration with relevant Lagos State authorities.
₦100 MILLION EMPOWERMENT FOR 1,000 YOUTHS
The celebration continued at the Council Secretariat with the graduation and empowerment of about 1,000 beneficiaries drawn from various skills-acquisition initiatives supported by the administration.
The beneficiaries included graduates of the Ojokoro Vocational Training Centre, Ojokoro ICT Centre, as well as women trained through the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) programme at the Women Development Centre, Agege.
They received training in diverse and commercially relevant areas, including cake and pastries making, fashion designing, hat and bag making, cosmetology, tie and dye, computer applications, desktop publishing, front-end web development and other Information and Communication Technology-related skills.
In a significant departure from an empowerment model that ends with certificates, the administration backed the training with start-up support valued at ₦100 million, designed to give beneficiaries the means to translate their skills into productive ventures and sustainable livelihoods.
Hon. Rosiji Oluyemisi Adenike emphasized that the objective was not simply to train residents, but to equip them with the capacity to become economically independent, create wealth and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
The Chairman, accompanied by dignitaries and members of her team, also inspected an exhibition of products and crafts produced by the beneficiaries, where the quality and practical application of the skills acquired during the training were displayed.
NEW VEHICLES TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY, ENFORCEMENT AND MOBILITY
In another major intervention, the Rosiji administration provided operational vehicles to strengthen security, enforcement, environmental monitoring and community safety across the LCDA.
As part of the initiative, a vehicle was presented to the APC Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Alhaji) Jelili Oseni, while an operational security vehicle was donated to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In addition, three mini-buses were provided for Task Force operations, enhancing mobility and operational effectiveness in the discharge of their responsibilities across the Council Area.
The vehicles are expected to improve field operations, monitoring, rapid response, enforcement and coordination among the various structures responsible for maintaining safety, order and effective service delivery within Ojokoro LCDA.
APC LEADERSHIP APPLAUDS ROSIJI’S PERFORMANCE
The achievements attracted commendation from the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
Speaking on behalf of the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC State Secretary, Hon. Dr. Adeola Jokomba, commended Chairman Rosiji for what he described as visible and verifiable development in Ojokoro LCDA.
Dr. Jokomba noted that the assessment of an administration should go beyond political rhetoric, stressing that the roads commissioned, the beneficiaries empowered and the interventions witnessed by residents provided tangible evidence of the work undertaken.
He urged the people of Ojokoro LCDA to continue to support the APC and its progressive programmes, maintaining that the reforms and increased resources available to government had created greater opportunities for development at the grassroots.
He consequently called on residents to sustain their support for the APC as the country approaches the 2027 general elections, in the interest of continuity and further development.

The event was graced by prominent political, traditional and community leaders, including Hon. Aboyade, APC Vice Chairman, Lagos State; Hon. Dr. Adeola Jokomba, APC Secretary, Lagos State; the APC Woman Leader, Lagos State; Hon. Dr. Idris Salako, former Commissioner for Works, Lagos State; Barr. Bolaji Sanusi; Hon. James Adisa Owolabi, former Member of the House of Representatives and Apex Leader, APC Ojokoro LCDA; Hon. Tpl. Rasheed Olanrewaju Makinde, APC candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly; Hon. Aremu Akindele, APC Leader; Pastor (Mrs.) Funke Olaleye, APC Assistant Financial Secretary, Lagos State; and Hon. James Osatuyi.
Also present were the traditional rulers of the communities, including HRM Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo, JP, Oba of Ojokoro; HRM Oba Adeshoga Williams-Adeyoola, Oba Orile Alagbado; HRM Oba Ogundinmu, Oba of Iju-Ishaga; and the Oba of Ofa-Irese.
The Council leadership was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle; APC Chairman, Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Alhaji) Jelili Oseni; Alhaja Zainab Funmilayo Adefolabi, APC Leader; Hon. Dr. Adeleke Waleeh Ipaye; alongside councillors, members of the Executive Council, Council management and staff.
Religious leaders, CDC and CDA executives, youth and women groups, security personnel, community leaders and other stakeholders also joined residents from across the LCDA in witnessing the historic occasion.
A YEAR OF IMPACT
Reflecting on her first year in office, Chairman Rosiji stated that her administration had remained focused on interventions capable of producing direct and measurable benefits for the people.
She highlighted achievements across infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, environmental management, security and social development, noting that the administration had undertaken 26 major projects and interventions within its first year.
According to her, the responsibility of government extends beyond the construction of physical infrastructure to the development of human capital.
She reiterated that when residents are equipped with relevant skills and provided with the necessary support to establish businesses, government creates not only beneficiaries but also employers, entrepreneurs and contributors to the economic growth of the community.
For the Rosiji administration, the first anniversary therefore concluded on a distinctly practical note: 6 roads delivered, 1,000 youths empowered with ₦100 million in start-up support, and critical security and enforcement operations strengthened with new vehicles.
