In a major boost to grassroots security, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, officially handed over five fully equipped patrol vehicles to security formations within the LCDA.
Four of the vehicles were presented to the divisional police headquarters operating in Ojokoro, while one was donated to the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC).
The symbolic handover ceremony took place at the council secretariat and was witnessed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.
In her remarks, Hon. Rosiji described the gesture as a clear demonstration of her administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the LCDA. She emphasized that no community can thrive without adequate security, noting that peace remains the foundation for development.
“We are commissioning these vehicles today to strengthen surveillance, enhance rapid response, and support law enforcement agencies in their duty to protect lives and property,” she said.
The Chairman reiterated that effective policing requires the cooperation of residents and urged community members to supply useful and timely information to appropriate security authorities.
Hon. Yemisi Rosiji also appreciated the Commissioner of Police for honouring the invitation, stating that his presence reflects the strong synergy between the Nigeria Police and the local government in promoting grassroots safety and peaceful coexistence.
Responding, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh commended the council chairman for the initiative, describing Ojokoro LCDA as a shining example in its level of support to security agencies.
He noted that the number and quality of vehicles provided surpassed what many other local governments had donated, assuring that all the patrol vehicles would be deployed strictly within Ojokoro LCDA.
The Commissioner further remarked that Ojokoro remains one of the most peaceful local governments in Lagos State, a development he attributed to the collaborative relationship between the Police and the council administration.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary DPOs, the Divisional Police Officer of Ojokoro Division, CSP Ayeromu, expressed gratitude to the council chairman. He assured that the vehicles would be fully utilized to improve security operations across the LCDA.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle, appreciated residents for their consistent support for the administration. He encouraged constructive criticism and reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, Religious leaders, CDC and CDA executives, Management Staff of the LCDA, security personnel, and residents who hailed the initiative as a timely intervention that will enhance safety during the yuletide season and beyond.
