GOV. SANWO-OLU INSTALLS NEW OBA IN ORILE ALAGBADO

-COUNCIL CHAIR CALLS FOR UPGRADE OF SOME

BAALES


Following the demise of Oba Ahmed Saaka Taiwo, who joined his ancestors on the 14th of January, 2023, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His excellency Mr. Olushola Sanwo-Olu, Wednesday, 22nd January at  Ojokoro Council Secretariat installed a new Oba, Oba Adesoga Williams Adeyoola for the stool of Orile Alagbado kingdom. 


Governor Sanwo-Olu who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert presented the staff of office and certificate to the Oba and urged him to bring his abundant wealth of experience, exposure and talent to bear in the discharge of his duties. He expressed his believe that the Oba will add value to the lives of the people of the community. He admonished him to uphold the dignity Of the throne, maintain cordial relationship with the other obas and promote peaceful existences with other neighbouring community.


The Council Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon.  Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) congratulated the newly installed traditional ruler, stressed the importance of the traditional institution, expressed his confidence in him and assured of his administration's support.

"Today marks a significant milestone, not just for the traditional institution of Orile Alagbado, but for our entire community.


 "The role of traditional rulers in fostering unity, cultural preservation, and community development cannot be overemphasized. 

They remain the custodians of our heritage, mediators, peace makers, and the bridge builders between members of the community and the government. The installation of the new Oba of Orile-Alagbado is a testament to the commitment of our administration to strengthen our traditional institutions and ensure that they continue to serve as pillars of support in the development of our communities.


"Your Royal Highness, Oba of Orile Alagbado, your ascension to this revered throne is a call to service thereby become the father of all and a dedication to the welfare of all your subjects.

I trust that you will bring to bear, your God given wisdom, integrity, courage and most importantly, your private sector experiences in the discharge of your responsibilities.

I urge you to work closely with all stakeholders—traditional rulers, community leaders, and most importantly the government, for the betterment of Orile Alagbado community, Ojokoro LCDA and Lagos state in general.


"As a responsible and responsive administration, we remain committed to promoting peace, unity, and progress in all communities within Ojokoro LCDA. 

"It is our goal to work hand-in-hand with our traditional leaders to drive innovations and creativity that would enhance the quality of life of our people in this ever dynamic and changes in World's trajectory.


"Kabiyesi, be assured of our administration's unwavering support as we collectively strive to transform Orile-Alagbado in particular and Ojokoro LCDA in general and by extension, Lagos state." The Council boss added.


Hon. Tijani appreciated the governor for his unflinching support for the development of the traditional institution in Ojokoro LCDA and Lagos State in generally  and requested that some of the part three Baales that are due for upgrade be upgraded.


Oba Adesoga Williams, in his inaugural address, expressed gratitude to the government, the kingmakers, and the people for the honour bestowed upon him. He pledged to uphold the customs and values of the community while working tirelessly to advance peace and progress of his kingdom, the LCDA and Lagos State at large.


Also present at the installation is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of LG, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa. Others include dignities from different walks of life, former law be makers, traditional rulers, captain of industries, APC party chieftains, artisans, residents and well wishers.
