The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Barr. (Hon) Oluyemisi Rosiji, has called on residents to cultivate a saving culture as a way to escape bankruptcy and debt. She made this call while receiving members of the Ifako-Ijaiye Multipurpose Cooperative Union, who were on a Cooperative Awareness Walk to commemorate the 2025 International Day of Cooperatives.

The theme of this year’s celebration, “Cooperatives: Driving Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions for a better world,” resonated with Rosiji’s emphasis on the importance of saving and cooperative membership in achieving financial stability. According to her, lack of saving culture often leads to bankruptcy and limits access to funds needed for a better quality of life.

Barr. Rosiji noted that having the right knowledge and saving habits can prolong one’s financial lifespan and prevent the need to seek loans from unscrupulous lenders with stringent repayment conditions. She commended the union for organizing the awareness walk and encouraged residents to join cooperatives as a means of escaping poverty and accessing funds for business development.

Earlier, the team leader, Mrs. Abosede Showole, representing the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, appreciated the Council Chairman for her attention and explained the purpose of the awareness walk.

Part of the Chairman’s team that attended to the walk were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Tunde Oyekunle; Council Manager, Mrs. Akinola Mojisola; Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Odegbami Olawunmi; and other management staff.
